The office of Vice President for Academic Affairs was created in 1973 as part of a major reorganization of the University central administration. The office assumed the duties of three former positions: Provost, Vice President for Student Affairs, and Academic Vice President. At a later date, both the office of Provost and that of Vice President for Student Affairs were reinstated. During the period covered by these records, Pete D. Gardner served as Vice President for Academic Affairs. This collection contains correspondence, memoranda, and reports primarily concerning administration and curricula in individual colleges and academic departments. Also included are announcements and reports of the Instructional Improvement Awards program (1974-1976)
